Movies - Avatar: The Way of the Water: Dolby and Disney France join forces to offer a unique immersive experience in Dolby Cinema in Pathé Gaumont Cinemas

By Mulder, 13 december 2022

Dolby is proud to partner with Disney France to offer audiences the opportunity to enjoy an exceptional experience, which promises to be rich in emotions and surprises on the occasion of the release of the new Avatar: The Waterway in Dolby Cinema, 13 years after the release of the first part.

Thus, big screen enthusiasts will be able to enjoy a unique visual spectacle thanks to Dolby and DISNEY France from Wednesday 14/12 to Sunday 18/12 inclusive by discovering the highly anticipated Avatar: The Way of the Water with the elaboration of new luminescent plant settings, placed in the audio-visual corridors of 5 Dolby Cinema cinemas in France.

This exceptional journey begins in the corridor that leads the spectator to the Dolby Cinema projection room. This immersive decor is composed of hanging tillandsia and flowerbeds with wave effects, creating a path that is both organic and magical, for a guaranteed immersion in the world of Pandora.

The luminescent plant design is proposed by Aglae, a pioneer in plant luminescence. At the frontier between art and science, this unique concept allows plants to light up magically in the dark. This technology does not use any genetic modification. It is an eco-friendly nutrient serum, which is absorbed by the plant's sap, to reveal the veins of the petals and leaves under black light. The light effects range from purple to blue/green and enhance the beauty of the plant.

Pandora is a planet with a rich and enigmatic flora: the plants are connected to each other and thus create a real communication network. The real luminescent plants of this scenography provide magnificent veins and coloured lights whose effects are very close to the universe imagined by James Cameron. As the second part of Avatar explores an aquatic theme, a herbarium was chosen to illustrate the ocean floor.

With the release of the new Avatar: The Way of the Water, James Cameron once again pushes the technical limits and immerses the spectator in sublime aquatic scenes. The special effects are gripping, breathtaking, visually impressive, and enhanced by the incredible luminosity provided by Dolby Cinema 3D.

Dolby Cinema unleashes the emotional impact of every film by allowing you to see the subtle details and ultra-vivid colours of Dolby Vision®, and hear the immersive sound of Dolby Atmos®. This unparalleled, ultra-realistic combination transports the viewer into incredible realism.

List of the 5 Dolby Cinemas where it will be possible to enjoy this unique light show: Pathé Beaugrenelle (Paris 15), Gaumont Renne, Pathé Vaise (Lyon), Pathé Dock Rouen and Pathé La Joliette (Marseille)
