Convention - Paris Fan Festival 2022 : the artistic know-how Made in France put forward

By Mulder, 26 april 2022

French creations and creators in the fields of series and cinema, animated films, video games, comics and "makers" in the broadest sense of the word will meet at the Paris Fan Festival.

The Paris Fan Festival invites visitors to embark on two days of immersion, on May 7 and 8, in the iconic universes of Pop Culture: from science fiction to superheroes and fantasy. Behind these universes and characters, there is a multitude of professions and talents involved in an industry in which France is one of the world champions, from school to the professional world. The Paris Fan Festival honors the Made in France, from the big names to the young talents and the independents.

Cinema and Animation Made in France
French audiovisual productions will be at the center of the Fan Festival conference program. First of all, Fortiche Production, the creators of the Arcane series, which won 9 awards at the 2022 Annie Awards, will talk exclusively to the Fan Festival about the genesis and creation of the phenomenon series directly inspired by League of Legends and broadcast on Netflix. Fans will have the opportunity to learn the secrets behind the making of Arcane during the first-ever public conference appearance by the studio Fortiche!  Simon Astier will present his brand new series, Visitors, a clever mix of science fiction and comedy. The creator of Hero Corps will answer questions from the audience, just a few days before the episodes of the first French original creation are broadcast on Warner TV. Douglas Attal, already behind the direction of How I Became a Superhero on Netflix, will come and talk about the audio series Batman Autopsy, which will be broadcast from May 2 on Spotify and for which he is directing the French adaptation. An exhibition of costumes and props will showcase the expertise of Parallel Life Studio. The company specializes in the design and manufacture of costumes, including the origin of the costume of the character of Philippe Lacheau in the film Superheroes in spite of himself, will present its creations. From Batman to Superman to Loki or Spider-Man, visitors will be able to discover the art of creating the iconic costumes and accessories that have forged the legend of these characters on the big and small screens.

Video Games Made in France
Video games made in France will be represented by two major French studios whose creations are exported worldwide: Dontnod Entertainment (Life is Strange) and Quantic Dream (Detroit: Become Human, Star Wars Eclipse). Talal Selhami, director and cinematic director at Dontnod Entertainment, and Benjamin Diebling, director on Quantic Dream's upcoming Star Wars Eclipse, will speak at a conference on the increasingly close ties between the video game and film industries. The Fan Festival will also host the first physical version of the GA French Direct. This independent conference, which is celebrating its 3rd year of existence, is dedicated to the discovery of French-speaking video game projects still in development. The public will be able to discover the 10 most promising games during a show on the big stage of the Fan Festival.

Artists and young creators Made in France
Auklair, visual artist and Pop Culture enthusiast, will present an amazing exhibition, with steampunk artworks that borrow from superheroic iconography and science fiction. LSL Maker will transport the public to the most epic scenes of the Star Wars films with its miniature sets recreating the iconic characters and ships of the universe created by George Lucas. Finally, the Paris Fan Festival will highlight young creators in a space reserved for the presentation of their craft or artistic work. Visitors will be able to meet the artist Makehousan whose illustrations are an ode to his passion for Japanese culture. Okaia will come to present its unique perfumes, inspired by the heroes of the DC Comics universe, allowing fans to choose their favorite personalities.
