Disney+ - Pinocchio : Discover the first image of the new film by Robert Zemeckis

Disney+ has just revealed the first photo of its upcoming movie event: a live-action version of Pinocchio, based on the character created by Carlo Collodi.

Pinocchio is an upcoming American live-action computer-animated musical fantasy drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis from a screenplay by Zemeckis and Chris Weitz, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a remake of the 1940 film of the same name, which is itself based on the 1883 Italian book The Adventures of Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi. 

Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?) was entrusted with the direction of the famous story of this little wooden puppet who is determined to live the most exciting adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) plays Geppetto, the old sculptor who created the puppet and considers him his own son; Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (Flora and Ulysses) Pinocchio, with an impetuous temperament; Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Don Jon) Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio's conscience and guide; Cynthia Erivo (Genius series: Aretha) the Blue Fairy, who has the power to grant wishes; Keegan-Michael Key (All the Bright Places) the Big Rascal, who is uniquely able to lead Pinocchio down the wrong path; Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos) Sophie the Seagull, a new character; and Luke Evans (Beauty and the Beast), the terrible coachman who leads the children to their perdition.

Principal photography began on March 17, 2021, in Cardington Film Studios, England, under the working title Mahogany. Filming was completed in April 2021 according to Benjamin Evan Ainswoth.  On January 1, 2022, actress Cynthia Erivo shared the first glimpse of her as the Blue Fairy in the upcoming remake. Alan Silvestri, a recurring collaborator of Zemeckis', will compose the score for the film.] Silvestri and Glen Ballard are set to write new songs for the project, which will also include songs from the original film, including "When You Wish Upon a Star", which will be performed by Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy.

Pinocchio is planned to be released on Disney+ in September 2022
