By Mulder, 01 march 2022

The Boys Presents: Diabolical is an eight-episode animated anthology series set in the world of the Emmy-nominated hit series The Boys, all episodes of which will air on March 4 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The 12- to 14-minute episodes, each with its own unique animation style, reveal never-before-seen stories in the world of The Boys, imagined by some of the brightest and most creative minds in entertainment today.

Impressive seems to be the best adjective to describe this series as each episode benefits from a great care as much to respect the DNA of the series The Boys, from perfectly mastered scenarios and especially each one hangs on a distinct animation format that is inspired by American, French but also Japanese animation. This complete overview of the different animation formats allows to avoid all the repetitions of which the series have too often accustomed us. Fans of The Boys universe will not only devour this series, but they will also think that it is a miracle that the omnipresent violence in this cult series has not lost any of its effectiveness and its will to propose a series intended for adults.

The eight episodes are each an independent story and deal with different themes whether it is a violent comedy (Laser Baby's Day Out), a horrific thriller without concession (second episode without real title), a tribute to the authors of the comics The boys (I'm Your Pusher), a tribute to French animation (Boyd in 3D), Korean dramas (John and Sun-Hee) This anthology is totally different as it succeeds in not being a simple spin-off without real conviction of The boys but succeeds in being a tribute to the authors of the original comic book Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and to the series by taking back the main characters.

Each episode is a real short film in which the directors have been able to add their contribution to The Boys by proposing stories full of all kinds of ideas and not constantly trying to stick to a predefined mold that can please everyone. A director's vision is at the center of each episode. Mixing fierce humor, strong and violent scenes, the eight episodes are a huge pleasure to watch.

While season 3 of The boys will not be available until June 2, The Boys Presents: Diabolical is an undeniable success that will allow to wait but also . The dubbing in original version allows to find the main cast of the series (Homelander, Queen Maeve, and The Deep). A piece of advice: watch like us the eight episodes one after the other to immerse yourself in the universe of The boys with an intact pleasure and especially hope for a season 2 to this animation series destined to become cult.
