Warner Bros. Pictures today unveiled the trailer for Oscar-nominated visionary filmmaker Baz Luhrmann's Elvis, starring Austin Butler and Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks. The film focuses on the life and work of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler) through the prism of his complex relationship with his mysterious manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks). In the space of twenty years, while America is going through major socio-cultural upheavals and losing its innocence, Elvis becomes a worldwide star. In his meteoric rise, one person plays a key role: Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).

Alongside Hanks and Butler, award-winning stage actress Helen Thomson (Top of the Lake: China Girl, Rake) plays Elvis' mother Gladys, Richard Roxburgh (Moulin Rouge!, Breath, Thou Shalt Not Kill) plays Elvis' father Vernon and Olivia DeJonge (The Visit, Stray Dolls) plays Priscilla. Luke Bracey (You Shall Not Kill, Point Break) plays Jerry Schilling, Nathasha Bassett (Hail, Cesar!) plays Dixie Locke, David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, LION, 300) plays Hank Snow, Kelvin Harrison Jr. (The Trial of the Chicago 7, The High Note) plays B.B. King, Xavier Samuel (Perfect mothers, Love & friendship, Twilight - chapter 3: hesitation) plays Scotty Moore and Kodi Smit-McPhee (The power of the dog) plays Jimmie Rodgers Snow. The cast also includes Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things, The broken heart gallery) as television director Steve Binder, and Australian actors Leon Ford (Gallipoli, Band of Brothers: Hell of the Pacific) as Tom Diskin, Kate Mulvany (The Great Gatsby, Hunters) as Marion Keisker, Gareth Davies (Rabbit Stone, Hunters) as Bones Howe, Charles Ground (Crazy rich asians, Camp) as Billy Smith, Josh McConville (Nightmare island) as Sam Phillips and Adam Dunn (Summer Bay) as Bill Black.

To play the other legendary musicians in the film, Baz Luhrmann cast singer and author Yola as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, model Alton Mason as Little Richard, Gary Clark Jr. as Arthur Crudup, and artist Shonka Dukureh as Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton. Oscar-nominated Luhrmann (The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!) directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce and Jeremy Doner, based on a story by Baz Luhrmann and Jeremy Doner. The film is produced by Luhrmann, Oscar-winning producer Catherine Martin (The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!), Gail Berman, Patrick McCormick and Schuyler Weiss. Courtenay Valenti and Kevin McCormick executive produced.

Elvis was shot in Queensland, Australia, with the support of the Queensland Government, Screen Queensland and the Australian Government's Producer Offset program. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and will be released in North America on June 24, 2022 and in the rest of the world on June 22, 2022.

Synopsis:
The life and musical work of Elvis Presley through the lens of his complex relationship with his mysterious manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film will explore their relationship over a period of twenty years, from the singer's rise to unparalleled stardom, against a backdrop of cultural upheaval and America's discovery that innocence is over.
