With her debut single, Drivers License, selling four million copies in the U.S., Olivia Rodrigo showed the power of her intimate and heartfelt compositions. The 2021 release of her debut album, Sour, available on Geffen Records, has confirmed her status as one of the most promising revelations of the moment.

With Sour, named Album of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine and one of the Best Albums of 2021 by the New York Times, Olivia Rodrigo topped several Billboard retrospective lists, including Best Artist in the Top 200, Best Newcomer, Best Artist in the Top 100, Best Female Artist in the Top 100, and Best Female Songwriter (all genders) in the Top 100. To top it all off, she won the American Music Awards' Revelation of the Year award, and seven Grammy Award nominations, making her the second youngest artist in the history of the awards to be nominated in all four major categories in the same year. Sour, which sold two million copies upon its release, went straight to the top of Billboard's Top 200. It broke all streaming records in the U.S. for a female singer's debut album, and became the most listened-to album by a female singer in one week on Spotify, with over 385 million streams worldwide. Two songs, Drivers License (4 million copies) and Good 4 U (3 million copies) topped the charts, and Deja Vu (2 million copies) reached the Top 5. All eleven tracks on the album were in Billboard's Top 30, making Olivia Rodrigo the first female artist and the fourth artist or group in history to have eleven or more songs in the Top 30 simultaneously.

On every track on Sour, she demonstrates an extraordinary talent for capturing complex emotions in compelling pop songs. The album, which she co-wrote entirely, is a minimalist but compelling example of alt-pop. Each of her compositions demonstrates an innate sense of storytelling and a very personal point of view that makes them unforgettable. Sour reflects the undeniable audacity and writing talent of a rising star.
