Home release - Pil: on DVD in France December 15

By GraeLeigh, 13 december 2021

Four months after its release in theaters, the French animated film directed by Julien Fournet arrives on DVD. A timely gift for the holidays.

Castles, heroic rides, spells and fantastic creatures... Embark with Pil for an action-packed comedy in the world of medieval tales and legends!

To an orchestral score tinged with medieval sounds, the monumental sets come to life in sequences lit by torchlight, in the light of a storm, or playing on the chiaroscuro of a forest drowned by mist...

To conceive the universe of this adventure, the Occitanie region was rich in inspiration.

As for the music, the composer Olivier Cussac thought of each melody in the manner of the troubadours who walked the courts of the nobility, singing in the language of oc.  For a real sound immersion, some scores were played by a group of medieval musicians.
If we can regret that in 2021, we have to be satisfied with a DVD edition and not Blu-Ray, the release of Pil comes just in time to take young and old into the colorful medieval world of Roc-en-Brume. Only one bonus will be offered: a making-of.

Synopsis
Pil, a little orphan girl, lives in the streets of the city of Roc-en-Brume. With her three tame weasels, she survives by stealing food from the castle of the sinister regent Tristain, who usurps the throne. One day, to escape the guards who are chasing her, Pil disguises herself by putting on a princess dress. She then embarks on a crazy and delirious quest to save Roland, the heir to the throne who has fallen victim to an enchantment and has been transformed into a... chapoul (half cat, half hen). An adventure that will turn the whole kingdom upside down and teach Pil that nobility can be found in everyone.
