"This is a free adaptation of a play Why my brothers and I left... by Hédi Tillette de Clermont-Tonnerre, which I had directed and performed when I was 17. It consisted of four monologues told by four brothers. There was in particular the theme of the meeting of a character with art whereas nothing predestined him to that. This idea corresponded to what I was experiencing at the time. - Yohan Manca

Freely inspired by the play Pourquoi mes frères et moi on est parti... by Hédi Tillette de Clermont-Tonnerre, My brothers and I (Mes frères et moi) is the first film by Yohan Manca.  The film was selected at the Ateliers Premiers Plans in Angers and had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2021, in the Un Certain Regard section. The cast includes Maël Rouin Berrandou, Judith Chemla, Dali Benssalah, Sofian Khammes, Moncef Farfar, Luc Schwarz, Olivier Loustau, Olga Milshtein, Loretta Fajeau-Leffray, Maïlys Bianco. This film will be released in France on January 5, 2022 and you can discover our review a few days before the release of this film.

Synopsis: 
Nour is 14 years old. He lives in a working-class neighborhood by the sea. He is about to spend a summer punctuated by the misadventures of his older brothers, the illness of his mother and community service. When he has to repaint a corridor in his school, he meets Sarah, an opera singer who runs a summer course. A meeting that will open new horizons for him...
