DisneyPlus - Secret Invasion :  Maria Hill, Nick Fury's faithful ally, is back

By GraeLeigh, 02 december 2021

Great news for fans of Maria Hill and her character, Vancouver actress Cobie Smulders, as her return to the Marvel series is officially announced.

The Marvel cinematographic universe is still expanding. If the movies are released at a lower speed than at the beginning, the series variations of its universe are going well since new ones are already announced to be broadcasted on Disney+: Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Ironheart, Armor Wars (with Don Cheadle), I Am Groot, Echo (derived from Hawkeye) or even one on Wakanda with an undisclosed title.
Currently filming in London, before setting foot accross Europe, Secret Invasion will adapt the crossovers released in 2008 by Marvel Comics and will focus on "a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating the Earth for years".

Cobie Smulders is not the only one to make a comeback, as she will be joined by Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Ben Mendelsohn (General Talos). And new faces are attached to the series: Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Christopher McDonald or Killian Scott. If we know that Ben-Adir will play a villain, the roles of others have not been revealed yet.

Maria Hill's presence in the MCU is a constant since we have seen her in several movies (Avengers, Captain America 2 and Avengers 2). She was removed from Earth after Thanos' snap in Avengers 3, but came back in Avengers 4 after Iron Man's blip. She then attended Tony Stark's funeral before Fury asked Talos and Soren to take their places on Earth) but also in several episodes of Agents of SHIELD.
