Festivals - PIFFF 2021 : A successful edition

By Mulder, 23 november 2021

Here is the program and the little novelties that await you from December 1 to 7 at the Max Linder Panorama.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival, this edition of the PIFFF will be placed under the sign of a reunion with genre cinema, in all its forms. What better way to kick off the festivities than with Veneciafrenia, the latest film by Álex de la Iglesia (Caught in the Trap, The Witches of Zuggaramurdi, Balada Triste) and to close with In the Earth by Ben Wheatley (Rebecca, Free Fire, High Rise), both in French premiere. This year, the PIFFF will present 27 feature films and 15 shorts, including some world premieres.

As for the guests, the PIFFF will welcome the French and international teams of Comrade Drakulich, Message d'Outre-Espace, Stéphane, The Found footage phenomenon, The Power... But also some of the French filmmakers who have marked the history of the genre through our Cult Sessions themed "Hexagone" this year, which will offer to see again on the big screen Dobermann, Le Convoyeur, Seul contre tous, La Cité des enfants perdus or Innocence. And because in PIFFF there is International, the team wanted to salute a continent totally emblematic of genre cinema, Asia. This will be the case during the special Forbidden Seances evening Shocking Asia, with two extreme classics: Ebola Syndrome (Hong Kong, 1996) and Evil Dead Trap (Japan, 1988).

The PIFFF Night is also back this year to mark the 10th anniversary with a "meta" theme. On the program: Demons by Lamberto Bava, Vampire vous avez dit vampire by Tom Holland and Why don't you play in hell? by Sono Sion. Enough to stay glued to the screen of the Max Linder Panorama until 6am!

The jury of the short film competition will welcome this year :
- Jehanne Rousseau, French video game designer, graphic artist and scriptwriter, co-founder and CEO of Spiders studio
- Dédo, French humorist, author, singer and comedian
- Estelle Charrié, director and 2D artist for Nymphopolis, the future series of Bobbypills
- Savitri Joly-Gonfard and Raphaël Hernandez, alias the duo Seth Ickerman, directors and scriptwriters

Finally, the music of the trailer of the festival was composed this year by ROB (Revenge, Maniac, Oxygen) and now becomes our official anthem.
