Hanna is an American television series broadcast on Prime Video and based on the 2011 film of the same name directed by Joe Wright. The series was created and written by David Farr, directed by Sarah Adina Smith, starring Esme Creed-Miles, Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos. The full eight-episode first season was released on March 29, 2019. In April 2019, Amazon renewed the series for a second season, which will start on July 3, 2020 and will include eight episodes. In July 2020, the series was renewed for a third and final season. The third season of Hanna will be available exclusively on Prime Video beginning on November 24, 2021
The Utrax program has produced a veritable army of over-trained teenagers on the verge of reaching the very dangerous "second phase." Esmé Creed-Miles and Mireille Enos are once again joined by Dermot Mulroney as one of the mysterious leaders of Ultrax, John Carmichael. This third season also sees the appearance of actor Ray Liotta as Gordon Evans. Hanna will not only have to overcome herself but also find a way to put Ultrax out of business for good. The six episodes that make up this final season bring a fitting end to this endearing and thrilling series in which the psychology and evolution of the characters is at the very center of the story.
Season 3 of Hanna continues the journey of an extraordinary young woman, played by Esmé Creed-Miles, who was created by the sinister Utrax organization and trained to become an assassin. Hanna is now secretly trying to destroy Utrax from within and break free from its grip with the help of her former nemesis, ex-CIA agent Marissa Wiegler (Mireille Enos). Together, they convince John Carmichael (Dermot Mulroney), a high-ranking Utrax agent, to help them with their mission, but her fellow young assassins, Sandy (Áine Rose Daly) and Jules (Gianna Kiehl), as well as new enemies, including Gordon Evans (Ray Liotta), a former military and intelligence officer, begin to suspect Hanna's plot. As Hanna gets closer to her goal, she begins to discover not only a program that will change the world, but also the true power behind Utrax that stands between her and freedom.
Showrunner David Farr was able to develop the character in Joe Wright's film on which he was one of the two lead writers. Far from indulging in slow and boring episodes, he was able to infuse this series with a real rhythm and especially develop the character of Hanna by showing her strength and her strong adaptability to any dangerous situation but also her fragility and her will to defend and protect her loved ones. Hanna has not only been trained as an elite soldier by her late father Erik Heller (Joel Kinnaman) but has also learned to integrate into a government program, The Meadows.
This third season gains in emotions and rhythm thanks to the actress Esme Creed-Miles who not only proves to be again an excellent actress but also comfortable in action scenes as well as in more intimate scenes. We find ourselves with a female counterpart of Jason Bourne and a series that manages to hold our attention without any false note. We can also appreciate the well-taken care of secondary roles and to find on screen the excellent Dermot Mulroney but also Mireille Enos. The fact that the dialogues in the original version are in English and French is an excellent idea to show the worldwide danger that Ultrax represents.
Prime Video shows once again a real know-how to propose us a captivating series from which we leave with a certain sadness the endearing character of Hanna. We can only advise you to discover this excellent season from November 24th.
