Movies - Predator 5: Official release date revealed for Prey prequel

By GraeLeigh, 13 november 2021

20th Century Studios has revealed on its Twitter feed the release date of the next opus of the franchise. There's no need for fans of the franchise to renew their Pathé Gaumont card as the fifth installment of the franchise will be available in the summer of 2022 on the streaming platform Hulu in the United States and worldwide (including France) on Disney+.

Filming was set to take place in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 2021. In July, Davis revealed that the film was officially three-quarters complete. In September, cinematographer Jeff Cutter confirmed that filming was complete. Although it was designed to be rated R, John Davis said the film could potentially be cut to be rated PG-13 (parental consent desired).

Prey thus takes over from Predator (John McTiernan - 1987), Predator 2 (Stephen Hopkins - 1990), Predators (Nimród Antal - 2010) and The Predator (Shane Black - 2018). The studio confirms that the American director and writer Dan Trachtenberg will be behind the camera, signing his return five years after 10 Cloverfield Lane.
