Festivals - Dinard British Film Festival: September 29 to October 3, 2021

By Mulder, 01 september 2021

This year, the Dinard British Film Festival will be present in theaters as well as online. Thanks to the leading FestivalScope platform, powered by Shift 72' and geo-located in mainland France, many films will be available nationwide, allowing those who cannot attend theatrical screenings to participate in a festival that offers a unique opportunity to experience British films, cultures and identities. We have also included films that were selected but not seen at last year's cancelled festival, as well as those that could not be released during the lockdown.

Six films and our short film program "Shortcuts" will be presented in competition. Not only do we want to show the best, but also present films that reflect the many concerns of life in the UK. The themes of the program range from revenge fantasies to love stories to music to adolescence. They highlight concerns such as immigration, Northern Ireland, fishing and, inevitably, the pandemic.

The program will be divided into 6 thematic sections. A television series will be unveiled in its entirety, broadcast in one session. A superb animated film will introduce junior audiences to British humour. A special anniversary will be celebrated. And the festival will present the complete work of one of the UK's emerging filmmakers, little known in France... Round tables will be organized, in person or virtual.

The Six Sections :
- To be or not to be: the universality of human tragedy and the great themes of our time
- Land & Sea : the daily struggles of men and women to defend their island traditions which, little by little, are coming into conflict with modern times
- It's Teen Spirit: the joys and turbulence of adolescence, sexual awakening and the family relationships that surround this period of life
- What a Horror! : five women directors' views on genre cinema in the spotlight
- Irish Eyes in Dinard: Great Britain opens its doors to the new cinema of its close and beloved neighbor, Ireland
- Dinard Rocks the Casbah: Great Britain: a crossroads and leader of all musical cultures, from punk to reggae to rock
