Returning to the action and spectacle that made the first Transformers a worldwide phenomenon 14 years ago, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a globe-trotting adventure in the heart of the 1990s. The Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons will be introduced for the first time as they join the ongoing battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. 

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is an American science fiction action film directed by Steven Caple Jr, from a screenplay by Darnell Metayer and Josh Peters, and a story by Joby Harold. Intended to be the seventh installment in the Transformers film series, the film is a direct sequel to Bumblebee. Based on the Transformers line and primarily influenced by the Beast Wars storyline, the film will center on Optimus Prime and will be set in 1994 in New York City and Machu Picchu, Peru. The project is a joint venture production between Hasbro, eOne and Paramount Pictures. The film is scheduled for release on June 24, 2022 in the United States and June 22, 2022 in France.

In December 2018, when asked about the future of the Transformers franchise, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura said that another big Transformers movie would be produced and that it would be different from the ones we've done before. He described the process as more of an evolution, saying There's more freedom than I think we originally thought in terms of what we can do. After the success of Bumblebee, he acknowledged that the series will make some changes in tone and style, inspired by the film.
