“ As a lifelong thriller fan, who also has worked extensively with the music industry, I have had an urge to marry both for a while. Producing 808 was not only a labor of love, but also an immensely-intense 5-year journey from its inception to release. With that being said, it wasn’t a surprise to me when I found my mind wandering while on holiday with my family that I came up with the idea of a drum machine at the core of a complex murder machine. I remember laughing to myself and saying: “drum machine horror could be a thing”. The short film Conductor soon became the product of that random thought. The cathartic process of actually making the short has reinvigorated my belief that music-driven horror remains somewhat an untapped, yet natural area amongst genre films. Knowing that good soundtracks were a trademark of genre films, I felt that if music were to act almost as the story’s protagonist or the impetus of an ordeal— then the results could be very interesting.

In my work I thrive to exacerbate real human situations while exploring the worst possible outcome for a result that teeters between feeling like a stretch yet not completely impossible. This is how I addressed the pursuit of fame in the short. Now in the thriller feature I address the destructive nature of the creative journey and the myriad of collateral damages in an artist’s stubborn pursuit of a masterpiece. I grew up surrounded by strong and creative women so I guess it’s normal that I fathom my characters the way I did to lead Sound of Violence. Although the design is twisted, I hope to deliver messages of empowerment and inspiration to all young women, like my daughters, to go create and innovate. I remain humbled and grateful for the acclaim the short received—the response galvanized me to explore and tell the journey of Alexis and Marie.” - Alex Noyer

Starring Jasmin Savoy Brown (the upcoming Scream revival, HBO's "The Leftovers"), Lili Simmons (Showtime's "Ray Donovan", "Banshee", Bone Tomahawk), James Jagger (HBO's "Vinyl", The Outpost) and Tessa Munro (CBS's "S.W.A.T."), Sound of Violence will debut on cable and digital VOD May 21st from Gravitas Ventures. Sound of Violence was written and directed by Alex Noyer (808, SXSW 2015). Sound of Violence was produced by Hannu Aukia (Someone Somewhere, Conductor), Alex Noyer, and is Executive Produced by Mike Macari (Executive Producer of The Ringtrilogy).

“I’ve been lucky to be surrounded by people who believed in my idea of an artist in lieu of a killer. From our amazing lead Jasmin Savoy Brown to my producing partner Hannu Aukia, to our cast and crew, this movie came together because of confidence in that vision. Gravitas showed us that same confidence. I am delighted for them to bring it to North American audiences so soon after our World premiere at SXSW,” stated Noyer.
