Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds (D'Artacán y los Tres Mosqueperros) is basically a 1981 Spanish-Japanese animated television series that adapts the classic 1844 story of d'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas, produced by the Spanish studio BRB Internacional with animation by the Japanese studio Nippon Animation, which was first broadcast on MBS in Japan in 1981-82. Most of the characters in the series are anthropomorphizations of dogs, hence the title of the cartoon; however, there are a few exceptions, including Dogtanian's two sidekicks, Pip the mouse and Planchet the bear, among several others.

In 1985, BRB Internacional released a TV movie edited from the series, entitled Dogtanian: Special. In 1989, together with Televisión Española and Thames Television, they produced a sequel to the series called The Return of Dogtanian. In 1995 they produced a TV movie based on the series Dogtanian: One for All and All for One. In early 2021, Apolo Films (BRB International's film studio) and Cosmos Maya will release a CGI feature film called Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds.

Synopsis:
In the early 17th century, a few years after witnessing the hanging of a woman, young Dogtanian travels to Paris with the intention of entering the service of the King and becoming a musketeer. There he meets Richelieu and the beautiful Milady.
