1976 saw the release of Uncanny X-Men 102, with its emblematic cover featuring the powerful Colossus and the unstoppable Juggernaut locked in battle, paving the way for a rivalry that would shake up the Marvel universe for decades. With this pack of 2 legends for the 80th anniversary of Marvel Comics, fans can add a piece of superhero history to their collection of action figures. Marvel Comics' incredible legacy of storytelling and culture now spans 80 years. Inspired by both the iconic Marvel Comics books and blockbuster movies from the Marvel Cinematic universe, these highly detailed, 15.24 centimeter scale Marvel Legends figurines are a perfect tribute to this legacy.
Colossus (Piotr Peter Nikolayevich Rasputin) is a superhero appearing in the comics published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum, he first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975). A Russian mutant, he is a member of the X-Men. Colossus is able to transform himself into a metallic form, which makes him the strongest physically of the team. Even when his powers are not engaged, he remains a physically imposing figure of 2 meters high. He is portrayed as calm, honest and virtuous.
Since his beginnings, he has been quite regularly present in X-Men related comics. A talented artist, he reluctantly accepts to use his powers in combat, believing that it is his responsibility to use his abilities for the betterment of humanity and mutants. In the movies, Donald MacKinnon played Colossus as a cameo in X-Men. Actor Daniel Cudmore has reprised the role of Colossus in X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), and Stefan Kapi?i? is the American voice of the CGI character in Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).
Juggernaut (Cain Marko) is a fictional character who appears in the American comics published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-writer Jack Kirby, he first appeared in X-Men #12 (July 1965) as an opponent of the eponymous superhero team. Cain Marko is an ordinary human who has been given the power of a gemstone belonging to the deity Cyttorak. He possesses superhuman strength and durability, and is virtually immune to most physical attacks; his helmet also protects him from mental attacks.
Although he is not a mutant, Juggernaut was presented as a prominent member of the Brotherhood of Mutants. He is also the half-brother of Professor X. The character has appeared in more than five decades of Marvel publications, appearing prominently in X-Men titles and in two solo publications. The character has also been associated with Marvel products, including clothing, toys, trading cards, animated television series and video games. Vinnie Jones played the role of Juggernaut in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand, while Ryan Reynolds did motion capture and dubbing for the CGI character in the 2018 film Deadpool 2.
Collector of many Marvel Legends for more than three years, I must admit that this box set composed of Colossus and Juggernaut (Le Fléau in French) is a real success. Not only, the many articulations allow these figures to take different poses but also to stage their iconic confrontations. Once again Hasbro has respected the characters of the Marvel comics but above all to give all their fans the opportunity to have them in their Marvel Legends collection.
