L'albatros is Xavier Beauvois' new film after Nord (1991), N'oublie pas que tu vas mourir (1995), Selon Matthieu (2000), Le Petit Lieutenant (2005), Des hommes et des dieux (2010), La Rançon de la gloire (2014), Les Gardiennes (2017) and Un petit fils (2020). The cast includes Jérémie Renier, Marie-Julie Maille, Victor Belmondo and Iris Bry. This film is in official competition at the 71st Berlin Film Festival. It will be released in France on August 25th.
Synopsis :
Laurent, a brigade commander of the Etretat gendarmerie, plans to marry Marie, his partner, mother of his daughter nicknamed Poulette. He loves his job despite a daily confrontation with social misery. While trying to save a farmer who threatens to commit suicide, he kills him. His life will then be turned upside down.
