“Bruce Willis was so generous with his time and talent. He really sought to inspire the younger He dug deep, taking big swings with the role. I love JL, he’s got a heart of gold as big as his beautiful head and I can’t wait to work with him again.” - Edward Drake
From producer Corey Large (It Follows, The November Man, Breach) and acclaimed director Edward Drake (Apex, Broil) comes an enigmatic portrait of how a first contact with an alien civilization goes disastrously awry. Cosmic sin is an essential and singular film from one of our most distinctive and exciting young filmmakers.
Cosmic mines the formative territory of how humanity will find ways to justify acts of violence in the name of freedom. Cosmic Sin is the second feature film from celebrated and multi-award-winning Australian/British director Edward Drake. A deeply personal work, Drake has created a mesmerizingly compassionate and unguarded portrait of how there are no winners in wars: some just lose more than others. Drake has become renowned for his scorching music video and commercial work, and also for the distinctive feel of his films; with their mix of immersive precision, painterly frames and emotional force, his movies–like his characters–cast a spell. Here, his style merges thrillingly with classic supernatural tragedy and a voyage of discovery.
Cosmic Sin was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, in March 2020. Production was mainly executed at the OFS Studios, in Norcross, Georgia. This incredible facility used to be a mega fiberoptics factory, part turned into filming areas – with multiple looks and feel. It allowed the filmmakers to create unique settings and enhance the astonishing production value for the film. Films such as Avengers Endgame, Godzilla and Black Panther were filmed in this facility, giving Cosmic Sin the ultimate canvas for the creation of large sets and looks - Says Line Producer Joe Di Maio “OFS allowed the production to provide the film its current desired edge and multi-world enviroments.
Filmed on the new Sony Venice cameras at 6K with Zeiss Master Anamorphic lenses. Cosmic Sin achieved it’s haunting look by ‘baking in’ a high contrast photographic look into the raw files, thus allowing the colorists to dial in the films primary colors: black and magenta. Visual Effects Supervisor Ian Duncan led a crew of artists to deliver the film's impressive 571 VFX shot count. The vision was to create ultra enviroments, with a sense of fun, as well as a type of style reminiscent to video games – to make the vibe fresh and contemporary.

Hex Mortis works extremely hard to engineer tough, well constructed wearable art that'll hold up to the abuse of filming, display, and the convention circuit.
Edward Drake: “The title of the film speaks to the idea that erasing another culture is a sin so unforgivable the cosmos will never forgive it. However, based on the colonization practices we’ve seen play out in our own history, it isn’t beyond reason that a similar pattern would play out when we encounter an alien civilization. In researching the concept above, I took a lot of notes from “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” by Yuval Noah Harari, Carl Sagan's Cosmos, “Hyperion” by Dan Simmons, “Starship Troopers” by Robert A. Heinlein's, and Alex Garland’s adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer novel “Annihilation”.
Synopsis :
Seven rogue soldiers launch a preemptive strike against a newly discovered alien civilization in the hopes of ending an interstellar war before it starts. After a mining crew on a far off planet makes a disastrous first contact with an alien civilization, General Eron Ryle (Frank Grillo) and the leaders of Earth’s Alliance of Governments debate if there can be peace between “us and them”. Notorious war-hero Gen. James Ford (Bruce Willis) is called upon to lead a squad of elite soldiers to an alien-infested Alliance Colony, Ellora, and find the coordinates of the invaders’ homeworld in the hopes of launching a preemptive strike to end a war before it can begin. Along with ethnologist Dr. Lea Goss (Perrey Reeves), bull-headed Specialist Braxton Ryle (Brandon Thomas Lee), demolition expert Dash Wick (Corey Large), and quantum engineer Lt. Fiona Ardene (Adelaide Kane), Ford’s mission goes awry and the squad is forced to reckon with the idea that they could be colonized by the invading army.
