Possessor is a Canadian science fiction psychological horror film written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg. The film stars Andrea Riseborough, Christopher Abbott, Rossif Sutherland, Tuppence Middleton, Sean Bean and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Possessor had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 25, 2020 and was released in the U.S. and Canada on October 2, 2020 by Neon and Elevation Pictures. It was released in the UK on November 27, 2020 by Signature Entertainment. The film was particularly praised for its originality and the performances of Riseborough, Abbott, Leigh and Gabrielle Graham.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Brandon Cronenberg is the son of director David Cronenberg. His first feature film, Antiviral, made a lasting impression when it was selected for Un Certain Regard at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. The film went on to win numerous awards thereafter, including Best Canadian Debut Film at the Toronto Film Festival. His short science fiction film Please Speak Continuously and Describe Your Experiences as They Come to You was selected for Critics' Week 2019. Possessor is his second feature film.
Synopsis :
Tasya Vos is an agent in a secret organization using a neurological technology that allows her to inhabit the body of any person and push her to commit assassinations for the benefit of very rich clients. But things get complicated for Tasya when she finds herself trapped in the body of an unwitting suspect whose appetite for murder and violence far exceeds her own.
