Festivals - Gerardmer 2021: Impetigore will be screened

Impetigore is a 2019 Indonesian horror film written and directed by Joko Anwar. The film stars Tara Basro, Marissa Anita, Christine Hakim, Asmara Abigail and Ario Bayu. Impetigore was released in Indonesia on October 17, 2019, screened at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2020 and was released in the United States on July 23, 2020 with Shudder, and was selected as the Indonesian entry for Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards.

Born in Indonesia, Joko Anwar started out as a journalist and film critic before becoming one of the country's most prolific filmmakers. His films include Modus anomali: The Awakening of the Prey, presented at the 2013 Gerardmer Film Festival, A Copy of My Mind, presented in competition at the 2015 Venice Film Festival, Satan's Slaves, which has remained Indonesia's most popular horror film since its release in 2017, and Gundala, a superhero film based on a local comic strip, selected at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival.

Synopsis :
Luck finally smiles to Maya when she learns that she has inherited a house in her native village. She decides to go there with Dini, her best friend, without knowing that the inhabitants have been looking for her for years in order to ward off a curse on the place...
