Festivals - Gerardmer 2021 : Boys from county hell will be screened in official competition

Horror fans are familiar with Bram Stoker and his novel Dracula, but what about Six Mile Hill in Ireland? It is said that Stoker visited Six Mile Hill in the mid-1890s, heard about the local legend of a humanoid bloodsucker who was buried under a pile of stones for centuries, and shortly afterwards wrote about a certain undead man from Transylvania - without citing Six Mile Hill as his inspiration. With Boys from County Hell, Irish filmmaker Chris Baugh continues his mischievous journey. This film will grab your attention with its sharp humor, lovable characters and distorted effects. It's simply the best horror comedy since What We Do in the Shadows.

The film follows Eugene Moffat, who spends his days drinking pints with his friends and pranking tourists at the tomb of Abhartach - a legendary Irish vampire who may have inspired Stoker's infamous Dracula. Grim events occur when Eugene and his father's construction crew overturn Abhartach's supposed resting place and are attacked by an infected co-worker.

Chris Baugh began his career making short films and worked as a screenwriter on animated films. He then founded Six Mile Hill Productions in 2012, where he produced several award-winning shorts as well as his first feature film as director, Bad Day for the Cut. The film was successfully presented at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. Boys from County Hell is his second feature film.

Welcome to Six Mile Hill, an Irish village where, according to local legend, Bram Stoker stayed for one night. Here lives Eugene Moffat, a young man who spends most of his days drinking pints with his friends and mocking tourists who come to visit the tomb of Abhartach, a mythical Irish vampire who is said to have inspired the character of Dracula.
