We Can Be Heroes is an American film written, directed and produced by Robert Rodriguez, which is an independent sequel to Sharkboy and Lavagirl's adventure film in 3D (2005). Its release is scheduled for December 25, 2020 by Netflix.

Robert Rodriguez has previous experience in dramatic and action-adventure films. He has directed, written and produced Spy Kids, which has become a recognized and well-loved film franchise. Robert Rodriguez also directed The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, a children's superhero film aimed at the same audience as his Spy Kids franchise.

Synopsis :
When alien invaders kidnap our planet's superheroes, their children are placed in a safe place by the government. But the very clever Missy Moreno is willing to do anything to save her superhero father. She teams up with her classmates in the same situation to escape the surveillance of their mysterious babysitter, Ms. Granada. And if they want to save their parents, they'll have to learn to function as a group, using their different powers - elasticity, time control or predicting the future - and build an extraordinary team!
