"This second season introduces a larger story, the episodes being less isolated than many episodes of the first season, each episode of this second season will always have its own flavor. The new characters introduced in the second season will also be accompanied by new plots, allowing the series to begin exploring stories other than the Mandalorian. " - Jon Favreau
The Mandalorian has become a real cultural phenomenon in just a few months, and from now on, The Mandalorian will have its new season available exclusively on Disney+, with one episode per week. The Mandalorian features Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez directed the episodes of this new season. Showrunner of the series, Jon Favreau is also the co-producer along with Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist is the executive co-producer.
After a memorable first season, we were looking forward to the season start and it's done this morning at midnight last night. This first episode of season 2 written and directed by Jon Favreau (also showrunner, executive producer of this series) finds all the charm of the best movies of our favorite movie saga with many action scenes, masterful special effects, a perfectly mastered script and inspired direction of actors. Almost fifty-two minutes long (the longest chapter of this series) and entitled Chapter 9: The Marshal, this episode begins directly after the end of the first season, Din Djarin protecting The Child .
This first episode is meant to be a vibrant tribute to the westerns that are dear to Jon Favreau's heart but also totally rooted in Star Wars mythology. From the first introductory scene without dialogue in which Din Djarin and the Child walk down an empty street at night and go to a boxing club, we recognize all of Jon Favreau's storytelling talent and his very precise way of approaching the action. The perfect editing of this episode based on Ludwig Göransson's inspired musical creation gives this masterful series a very special aura.
Following the plot of a western, we will think in particular of Sergio Leone's films with this nameless hero who is always ready to make good triumph and to resort to violence to always achieve his goals. This first episode will show us how opposing sides must join forces to defeat a common enemy represented by a sand dragon. Certainly relayed in the second row in this episode the character The Child occupies an important place and continues to be under the protection of this bounty hunter Din Djarin. Similarly, this episode features a strong new character with Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant) and shows that the script written by Jon Favreau is based not only on the psychology of people but also on many spectacular action scenes. In the same way, we can feel Jon Favreau's will to propose a cross between Game of Thrones with its very numerous characters while remaining respectful of the universe created by Georges Lucas .
While movie theaters are closed from today for at least four weeks, Disney + shows once again that it is the unavoidable video on demand platform of the moment with Netflix and Amazon Prime video. This new season, accompanied by an excellent marketing campaign presenting the numerous merchandising products offered in particular by Hasbro, Funko and soon Hot Toys and Sideshow Collectible, shows Walt Disney's undeniable know-how to offer quality programs but above all to stay in touch with the audience. How not to resist to the character The Child (and no it's not Yoda baby even if he looks a lot like him) and to take affection for this hero of modern times that is this lonely bounty hunter Din Djarin.
One could not dream of a better introduction to this second season than a perfect episode that will remain in your memory for a long time after discovering it...
