"A city, beaches, a landscape? No, it's not Cannes, it's Deauville. The one that hosts one of the oldest film festivals in France will exceptionally take on the allure of the Croisette in this year that is so special for cinema. With Pierre Lescure and the Cannes teams, we are very happy with the hospitality offered to us to screen the films of the Official Selection on the boards of Deauville. We share with Bruno Barde the same high standards for cinema, the same passion for artists, and a similar tradition of generosity and openness to the world. " Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival
Exceptional circumstances, exceptional edition: the American Film Festival invites this year the Cannes Film Festival, in its nature of international dimension. 10 films were thus selected among the 56 titles of the Official Selection of the Cannes Film Festival. An intense moment to make the world's largest festival in Deauville come alive and palpitate. All audiences will be able to discover these films on the big screen, in the presence of its General Delegate Thierry Frémaux and its President Pierre Lescure. The films from Cannes will thus irrigate all the sections of this 2020 edition, giving an original and cosmopolitan hue to the program. Numerous film teams, most of them French, will be present to exchange with the public. For lovers of cinema from across the Atlantic, in addition to the Cannes selection, the festival will, as usual, offer some 70 American films. And as Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville, says, "This year, the Deauville Festival is above all the rendezvous of the cinema".
