Ad Astra is an american science fiction film produced, co-written, and directed by James Gray. Starring Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland, Principal photography on the film began in mid-August 2017 in Santa Clarita, California, lasting 60 days.

The visual effects are provided by Moving Picture Company, Method Studios, Mr. X, Weta Digital, Brainstorm Digital, and Capital T and Supervised by Christopher Downs, Guillaume Rocheron, Ryan Tudhope, Aidan Fraser, Olaf Wendt, Anders Langlands, Eran Dinur, and Jamie Hallett and Territory Studio.

Ad Astra will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 29, 2019. It is scheduled to be released on September 20, 2019, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Synopsis
Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
