"The amount of craft that goes into the making of the puppets, the artistry that goes into those creatures, and then the guys who operate them. We arrive and it's there. It's inspiring in itself, the work that everyone else has done kind of feeds your performance.” - -Taron Egerton

Not only did Hall H get a Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance panel but they also got a screening of the first episode. Having the pleasure of being able to attend we can say it’s easy to see that this prequel will live up to expectations of fans who love the original film. We’re getting a deeper and more in-depth view of the world of Thra and those who live in it.

The original film takes place in a world that is practically on the verge of collapse. There’s not much that remains for those who have survived long enough to see the end. A Gelfling who thought he was the only one left, finds and befriends another and they set out to fulfill a prophecy that can change the world as they know it, created by the selfish Skeksis, before it’s too late. The new show takes place long before there was any strife between Gelflings and Skeksis.

The first episode tells the tales of three Gelflings living very different lives, a soldier, a princess, and one who lives underground in peace away from the thriving world of Thra above ground. Life is seemingly normal for all three until it’s eventually revealed to all of them that those who hold rule over them have a dark secret, a secret that could lead to the end of their kind. It’s only a matter of time before the crumbling of their world begins. If you’re a fan of the original film and you’re worried about it turning to today’s technology and CGI you can rest easy. The Jim Henson company has once again done incredible work making puppets come to life. The set designs will have you begging to explore more of this beautiful world. Having easy access to all 10 episodes is going to make it very hard to not binge this whole series.
