Convention - SDCC 2026 : Paramount+ The Lodge Once Again Sets the Gold Standard for Comic-Con Off-Site Experiences

After being invited to discover Paramount+ The Lodge during an exclusive two-hour press preview ahead of its public opening, we left convinced that Paramount Global has once again created one of the absolute highlights of San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Every year, studios compete to attract fans beyond the walls of the Convention Center with increasingly ambitious activations, but very few manage to combine spectacular production values, genuine fan service, exceptional hospitality and immersive storytelling as successfully as The Lodge. Returning to Happy Does Bar in San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, Paramount+ The Lodge immediately establishes itself as much more than a promotional space. From the moment visitors enter, the outside world disappears in favor of a carefully orchestrated journey through several of Paramount+’s most recognizable franchises. The attention devoted to every decorative element, every soundtrack, every interaction and every visual transition creates an experience that feels closer to a movie set than a marketing activation.

Celebrating sixty years of Star Trek naturally occupies a central place throughout the experience, and rightly so. The Strange New Worlds installation perfectly captures the optimism and exploratory spirit that have defined Gene Roddenberry’s universe for generations. Rather than simply displaying props or artwork, the designers have recreated an environment that feels authentic, inviting visitors to become part of the Star Trek universe themselves. It is an elegant tribute that longtime fans will immediately appreciate while remaining accessible to newcomers discovering the franchise. One of the biggest surprises comes from Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender. As Paramount+ prepares for the worldwide streaming debut of the highly anticipated animated feature, the activation offers an exceptionally beautiful environment inspired by the film’s visual identity. Richly detailed scenery, interactive moments and exclusive collectibles make this one of the most photogenic areas of the entire venue. Every corner demonstrates an impressive understanding of the franchise’s artistic heritage while successfully building anticipation for its upcoming release.

The tone changes dramatically when entering the South Park section, embracing the series’ trademark irreverence with remarkable confidence. Clever references, humorous details and playful interactions perfectly capture the chaotic personality that has made Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s creation a cultural phenomenon for nearly three decades. It is impossible not to smile while exploring this area, which constantly rewards attentive fans with hidden jokes and visual nods. The Yellowstone universe is represented through an atmospheric recreation of Dutton Ranch that perfectly contrasts with the science-fiction and animated worlds surrounding it. Rustic textures, authentic design choices and subtle environmental storytelling successfully transport visitors into Montana, illustrating the remarkable versatility of Paramount+’s catalogue. The transition between these radically different universes feels effortless, highlighting the exceptional work carried out by the creative teams behind the activation.

While the scenery is naturally spectacular, what truly elevates Paramount+ The Lodge above many competing Comic-Con activations is the overall quality of the experience. Every member of the staff contributes to creating an atmosphere that feels welcoming, relaxed and genuinely enthusiastic. Throughout our two-hour press visit, every interaction reflected the same level of professionalism and passion, reinforcing the impression that visitors are treated as guests rather than simply attendees passing through a promotional event. The complimentary food and beverages deserve special recognition as well. Rather than offering generic refreshments, Paramount+ has once again developed themed culinary experiences that complement the surrounding environments. Combined with the comfortable pacing of the visit, these details reinforce the original concept behind The Lodge: creating a place where fans can genuinely relax while celebrating the franchises they love.

Collectors will also find plenty to admire. Paramount+ continues its tradition of offering exclusive merchandise that goes far beyond standard promotional giveaways. Beautifully designed souvenirs, premium-quality collectibles and personalized keepsakes reward visitors while maintaining the premium image that has become synonymous with The Lodge over the years. Every item feels thoughtfully produced instead of mass-manufactured, adding genuine value to the overall experience. Perhaps the activation’s greatest achievement is its remarkable balance. Every featured franchise receives enough attention to feel complete without overshadowing the others, creating an experience that constantly renews itself from one room to the next. Whether visitors arrive for Star Trek, Avatar, South Park or Yellowstone, they inevitably leave having discovered something unexpected elsewhere along the journey.

Comic-Con has evolved into a citywide celebration where off-site activations often become just as memorable as Hall H presentations, and Paramount+ clearly understands this evolution better than most. The Lodge succeeds because it is built around immersion rather than promotion, encouraging fans to participate instead of simply observe. That philosophy transforms what could have been a conventional advertising campaign into one of the week’s most enjoyable attractions. After experiencing Paramount+ The Lodge ahead of its official opening, we have little hesitation in calling it one of the finest off-site activations of San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Every aspect of the production reflects an extraordinary level of craftsmanship, from its beautifully realized environments and engaging interactive elements to its outstanding hospitality, exclusive collectibles and attention to even the smallest details. Paramount+ has once again demonstrated how experiential entertainment should be designed, delivering an unforgettable celebration of its biggest franchises and one of the essential destinations of this year’s Comic-Con.
