Events - Chante !: the immersive Parisian experience that completely reinvents live performance and transforms the audience into real artists

By Mulder, Paris, 50 rue de Charenton,, 26 november 2025

There are certain concepts that appear and immediately strike you as something that is going to shake things up, redefine a cultural practice, and impose a new way of experiencing an already popular activity. Chante!, which officially opened its doors on November 24, 2025, at 50 rue de Charenton, in the heart of the Bastille district, undoubtedly belongs to this category. Described as the first immersive concert experience where each participant becomes the star of an event designed from start to finish, Chante ! goes beyond the traditional karaoke setting—a word that has almost become obsolete here—and offers a true live show that is complete, scripted, emotional, and technological. We had the opportunity to test the system, and it is clear that it stands out for its rare ambition: to transform everyday anonymous people into artists in the spotlight, in a setting that combines the luxury of backstage, the tension of dressing rooms before going on stage, the excitement of a frenzied audience, and the warmth of an aftershow where you can still savor the adrenaline of the moment. And this experience works because it is designed with a genuine respect for live performance, while relying on cutting-edge technology capable of rivaling that of international productions such as ABBA Voyage, thanks to the work of a lighting designer who worked on this iconic show.

To understand why Chante! marks a break with tradition, we need to put karaoke and participatory singing back into their cultural context. In Japan, karaoke is a national institution, practiced as naturally as we go for a drink on a terrace. Giants such as Joysound and Big Echo are part of the urban landscape, like social rituals that no one questions. In France, this phenomenon took a while to catch on, despite specialized venues such as BAM Karaoke Box and a practice that has become almost a must at parties with friends. Video games then caused the trend to explode: SingStar on PlayStation, Karaoke Revolution, and Let's Sing democratized the pleasure of singing at home. But despite this growing popularity, the activity remained confined to domestic or festive use. Chante !, on the other hand, crosses a boundary that no one had really dared to cross before: that of the simulated concert, the total show, the immersive experience where you don't just sing, but embody a star in a stage environment worthy of major international tours. It's no longer “singing a song,” it's “experiencing a concert,” with all that that implies in terms of emotions, physical sensations, dramatic tension, and communion with an audience—even a virtual one—that reacts like a living organism.

During our immersion, this difference is immediately apparent upon arrival in the space. You don't just step up to a microphone. You enter a story. You are welcomed like an artist, guided like a budding talent, and showcased before you even open your mouth. The beautifully appointed dressing rooms offer costumes, props, diva-style lighted mirrors, and a virtual vocal coach to help you warm up. This creates a genuinely exhilarating atmosphere: somewhere between pre-performance nerves and childlike excitement at “playing the star.” If you're generally shy, as I was, you might think the experience would be intimidating—but strangely, all that disappears within seconds. You get this almost cinematic feeling of being projected into a futuristic scene, a mix between the realism of a concert and a nod to science fiction reminiscent of the incredible karaoke scene in Chien 51. And then, honestly, it's on: the lights, the crowd, the sound, the vibration... and you forget everything. Even my apprehensions were shattered in a whirlwind of emotional glitter. The show must go on, and yes, it's cliché to say so—but it's hard to find a more accurate phrase.

On stage, the illusion is complete. Where traditional karaoke simply displays the lyrics on a screen, Chante! orchestrates a real concert environment. The stage is equipped with a high-end lighting system, synchronized to the millimeter thanks to advanced musical analysis that triggers effects, transitions, and visual atmospheres according to each song. Voice recognition tracks the lyrics in real time and adjusts certain elements according to rhythm, intonation, and energy. The most impressive element, however, is the generative AI that animates the audience: a digital crowd that jumps, applauds, cheers, calms down, or exults depending on how you perform your song. Never before has a virtual audience seemed so believable, so responsive, so “alive.” And that's where the magic of Chante! comes in: the illusion is so convincing that you end up forgetting that the crowd isn't real. You even find yourself raising your arms, talking to this digital audience, interacting with it instinctively. This feeling of artificial but emotionally authentic communion is probably the most powerful innovation of the concept.

The session concludes with an aftershow that prolongs and amplifies the sensations. Chante! offers an immersive bar where participants, friends, or colleagues can debrief over a drink, review excerpts from their performance, take photos in a setting designed for modern Instagram, and receive final feedback from the virtual vocal coach. The speakeasy located in the basement pays homage to the history of the venue, and it is even possible to continue the live performance on a small real stage. It is a form of controlled emotional comedown, a transition between the euphoria of the simulated concert and the reality that awaits you outside. It's also the perfect space for laughter, camaraderie, and self-deprecation—in short, everything that makes shared moments so beautiful.

The other strength of Chante!, as its founder Olivia Nicoletti brilliantly points out, is that the experience is designed for all ages and all uses. Individuals can come with family or friends to celebrate a birthday for ages 4 and up, or organize a memorable moment for a bachelor or bachelorette party or after-work event. Companies can privatize the venue for team building events, with a capacity of up to 150 people—a huge asset when you consider the growing importance of immersive experiences in team building. Because Chante!, beyond its festive aspect, also works on something deeply human: self-confidence, personal achievement, the courage to get on stage—even a virtual one—and put yourself out there. This blend of technology, emotion, and community creates an almost unprecedented format for participatory entertainment, and it's clear that this first Parisian location will only be a starting point. The concept is tailor-made to expand, spread, appeal to an international audience, and perhaps even, in the long term, become a new standard in immersive entertainment.

With Chante!, Paris welcomes a venue that is not just a leisure space, but an emotional laboratory, a technological playground, and a vibrant tribute to live culture. As Olivia Nicoletti says, “our mission is to make people vibrate, both literally and figuratively.” After experiencing it in real life, it's hard to put it any better. Chante! is not an activity. It's a moment in life. And believe me: you should definitely try it.
