The Into the Light international exhibition begins its journey through Paris, the City of Lights, at the Grande Halle de la Villette. The tour is divided into five stages, featuring 15 immersive, often monumental, art installations that play with light as a material. Through light, these artists create cathedrals, magical architecture, and universes. They tell us the fascinating story of light. Some installations feature beanbags on which visitors can lie down to immerse themselves in the mesmerizing sounds and lights. Blending technology and poetry, this unique and playful exhibition will delight young and old alike.
step 1 : origins
Beyond, the entrance tunnel, created by Playmodes, invites us on a journey with waves of light and sound. Diapositive by the Children of the Light collective immerses us in a solar eclipse, in black and white, with a suspended, rotating circle 2 meters in diameter, which lights up and then goes out. A poetic work to contemplate. Oh Lord by Guillaume Marmin presents the Sun, with images from NASA, bombarding us with its rays.
step 2 : light and us
Narcisse de Nonotak is an installation composed of a series of small, moving square mirrors that reflect light onto the wall, creating patterns, set to a minimalist soundtrack. Playful. Halo is a circular immersive installation. Karolina Halatek invites the visitor to stand in the center of a circle of white light, placed in a pure, white room, and enjoy a light therapy session. Negative Space immerses us in a magical dark room. Using white light and mist as optical illusions, Olivier Ratsi creates luminous walls, true optical illusions, walls that can be passed through like wall-passers. The visual artist draws on the phenomenon of retinal persistence to simulate volume, opacity, or transparency, and disrupts the way we mentally reconstruct the space around us. Impressive.
step 3 : showtime
Black and white gives way to color. Grid is an installation where visitors are invited to lie down on beanbags to enjoy the show, where 36 suspended luminous triangles compose shapes, like a wave or a spaceship, set to electronic music. This kinetic show lasts 25 minutes. Relaxation guaranteed.
step 4 : colors
With Spiraling Into Infinity, the Children of the Light collective invites us to move between spirals that illuminate, forming a multicolored luminous whirlwind. Orbis consists of three interacting light mediums: video projection, laser, and screen. The laser beam cuts through space, creating light on the screen. Abyss is to be discovered once again, elongated, with luminous squares that come to life to experience depth. With One's Sunset is another, One's Sunrise, Jacqueline Hen has created an immense golden and orange sun, made of mirrors and steel.
step 5 : playlight
Quiet Ensemble's Solardust is an installation designed to be viewed while lying on beanbags, admiring the twinkling, vibrant stars set to music. Collectif Scale presents Carnaval, a two-dimensional fresco made of tangled lines. This collective presents the highlight of the exhibition, Nautilus, a massive magical architecture, creating spirals of colors that appears to be in motion. The exhibition concludes with Passengers, a tunnel by Guillaume Marmin, in which the visitor's image multiplies.
