CinemaCon 2025 continued its momentum into Day 3 with an early-morning burst of energy, as Angel Studios took over the Palace Ballroom for a dynamic presentation that underscored their growing influence in the theatrical landscape. With a greeting as enthusiastic as it was symbolic—Good morning, Angel(s)!—attendees were quickly reminded that Angel Studios isn’t just another distributor, but one that’s redefining what independent faith-based and value-driven entertainment can look like on the big screen. Brock Bagby, President and Chief Content Officer for B&B Theatres, helped set the tone by introducing Jared Geesey, Chief Distribution Officer for Angel Studios, who didn’t waste a second getting to the heart of the studio’s mission and its astonishing growth. We didn’t just show up, we made an impact, he declared, proudly noting Angel Studios’ ascension into the ranks of the top ten theatrical distributors in North America—a milestone that seemed unthinkable only a few years ago for a crowd-sourced platform-turned-distribution force.
The panel was built around a compelling sizzle reel that served as a trailer of trailers, teasing a wave of upcoming features that blend spectacle, soul, and storytelling rooted in moral clarity. Among the major reveals were first looks at titles like The King of Kings, The Last Rodeo, Sketch, Truth & Treason, and Zero A.D.—each one carrying a distinct narrative voice yet unified by Angel Studios' overarching mission to amplify light, as expressed by EVP of Theatrical Distribution, Brandon Purdie. Purdie also took the opportunity to spotlight the Angel Guild, the studio’s community of supporters and curators, which has now grown to over 1 million active members—a testament to the studio’s unique audience-first model. The Guild doesn't just watch; they vote, guide, and shape the content, creating an ecosystem where community and commerce meet in harmony.
One of the standout moments of the panel was the exclusive screening of footage from Zero A.D., set for a Christmas 2025 release. This feature appears poised to offer a historical and spiritual epic with visual grandeur and emotional weight, filling a niche that often goes underserved in modern cinema. Meanwhile, Sketch, a dramedy from writer-director Seth Worley starring the charismatic duo of Tony Hale and D’Arcy Carden, promises a clever mix of humor and heart, with a theatrical release pegged for August 6, 2025. This was followed by not one, but three trailer premieres for Sketch, Truth & Treason, and The Last Rodeo, each greeted with enthusiasm from attendees eager for original, story-rich films that don’t rely on established IP.
Also earning buzz was The King of Kings, slated to arrive April 11, 2025. Beyond its biblical themes, what caught many ears was the announcement that Broadway and television star Kristin Chenoweth will lend her vocal talents to the film with a featured song—an element that hints at musical and emotional heights, perhaps aiming to stir both faith-based audiences and musical fans alike. Shelley Schulz, Theatrical Film Sales Manager, also took the stage to discuss Angel Studios’ expanding footprint in domestic and international markets, further reinforcing the studio’s goal of becoming a reliable home for content with a conscience.
Looking ahead, Tim Rollins, Director of Theatrical Operations, offered a forward-facing glimpse at the studio’s 2026 pipeline, introducing titles like Fablehaven, Young Washington, and Fellowship. Each of these films seems to draw from literary or historical inspirations, continuing Angel Studios’ dedication to producing content that is not only entertaining but intellectually and spiritually enriching. This carefully curated slate suggests a confident pivot toward more expansive storytelling, likely aiming to resonate with audiences across generations.
In a marketplace increasingly saturated by blockbusters and franchises, Angel Studios is carving out a distinctive niche—one where crowd participation, ethical storytelling, and commercial success can co-exist. Their CinemaCon 2025 presentation wasn’t just a preview of upcoming films; it was a declaration of intent. This studio isn’t simply playing the game—it’s redefining the rules, with light as its guiding force and a growing army of Angels behind it.
