On January 25, 2025, PlayStation France made its mark by organizing a unique event in the heart of Paris, on the rooftop of the prestigious College Saint-Louis de Gonzague. This exceptional event, in partnership with the NBA and UEFA Champions League, brilliantly blended the worlds of soccer and basketball, while celebrating the values of conviviality, competition and innovation. Two legends of French sport, Tony Parker and Robert Pirès, were the guests of honor on this unforgettable afternoon.
The day began at 12:00 with a 3-on-3 basketball and soccer tournament. Small teams of five players had the opportunity to face each other in a spirit of competition and fun. This first round warmed up the atmosphere and showcased amateur talent under the PlayStation colors. At 1:00 pm, the excitement reached its peak with an exhibition match in which Tony Parker and Robert Pirès demonstrated their respective mastery of their discipline, earning the admiration of the spectators in attendance.
The tournament resumed in full swing at 1:30 p.m. with a second round, followed at 3:00 p.m. by the grand final. This key moment of the event allowed the best teams to face off to the enthusiastic encouragement of the audience. At 3:30 p.m., participants and spectators enjoyed a moment of relaxation and conviviality during a free time session on the court, before the official closing of the event at 4:30 p.m.
Tony Parker, a true icon of French basketball, illuminated the event with his presence. Born in Bruges in 1982, he grew up in France and went on to become one of the most influential European players in NBA history. With four NBA championship titles with the San Antonio Spurs and a nomination as Finals MVP in 2007, he symbolizes sporting excellence. Now President of ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne, Tony Parker continues to share his passion and experience with the next generation.
At his side, Robert Pirès, a key figure in French soccer, also marked the event with his charisma and elegance. Born in 1973 in Reims, he played a decisive role in the triumphs of the French national team, notably at the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000. At club level, his time at Arsenal remains legendary, particularly during the “Invincibles” season of 2003-2004. His flair, technique and vision left an indelible mark on the history of soccer.
The event was also an opportunity for PlayStation to highlight its flagship console, the PlayStation 5 (PS5). Launching in November 2020, the PS5 represents a veritable revolution in the world of video games. Thanks to its powerful processor, ultra-fast SSD and ray tracing support, it offers an incomparable immersive experience. Its DualSense controller, equipped with haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, has redefined in-game interactivity, offering gamers an unrivalled sense of realism. With a rich library of exclusive titles such as Demon's Souls and Horizon Forbidden West, and compatibility with numerous PS4 games, the PS5 is a must-have reference for all video game fans.
This event on the rooftop of College Saint-Louis de Gonzague perfectly symbolizes PlayStation's commitment to pushing back boundaries, innovating and creating unique experiences. By associating two emblematic sporting disciplines with the world of video games, PlayStation has once again proved its ability to bring people together and inspire, while paying tribute to two legends of French sport. This day will be remembered as a shining example of the alliance between sport, technology and entertainment.
