The 36th edition of the Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show kicked off in style on October 5, 2024, at Parc des Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte, and among the standout moments was a mini-concert by Enriqué, a name fondly remembered by fans of the iconic 1978 anime series Goldorak.
For many attendees, the highlight of the day was Enriqué’s nostalgic performance of the original Goldorak theme songs, Accours Vers Nous, Prince de l'Espace and Va Combattre Ton Ennemi. These tunes, penned by Pierre Delanoé and based on the original Japanese themes by Isao Sasaki, once resonated with French audiences during the initial run of Goldorak. Though the tracks were replaced after only two months due to censorship issues, they left an indelible mark on fans and remain a significant part of Goldorak history.
Performing these classics live for an enthusiastic crowd at Paris Manga, Enriqué transported fans back to the late '70s when the Goldorak phenomenon swept across France. The audience sang along, reliving their childhood memories of the space-faring hero, Actarus. Enriqué's mini-concert not only honored the legacy of Goldorak but also showcased his enduring appeal in French pop culture.
Enriqué’s journey to stardom began in 1977 when he was discovered by the legendary Eddie Barclay. His early hits, such as J'aime, j'aime and Dis My Love, established him as a notable figure in the French music scene. His love for bel canto led him to the prestigious École nationale d'art lyrique de l'Opéra de Paris, where he further refined his craft. Throughout his career, Enriqué has maintained a strong presence both in France and internationally, with a repertoire that spans multiple genres. In addition to his performance, Enriqué engaged with fans during autograph sessions, offering a unique opportunity for attendees to connect with the artist who helped shape their love for anime music.
This year’s Paris Manga & Sci-Fi Show, expected to attract over 55,000 attendees, offers a diverse array of pop culture experiences. In addition to Enriqué's performance, the event features an impressive lineup of international stars, including Andy Serkis, Lana Parrilla, and Christopher Judge. Themed exhibits such as the Goldorak Experience and the Harry Potter Expo by Ludo Collection provide immersive experiences for fans of all ages.
Running through the weekend of October 5 and 6, 2024, this year’s event promises something for everyone, from cosplay contests to Japanese cultural workshops, making it one of the most anticipated pop culture events in Europe.
