In a moving evening held this Friday, March 1, 2024, the Musée Grévin welcomed a new iconic figure to its prestigious wax statues: Théo Curin, marking a historic milestone by honoring a disabled athlete for the first time. The ceremony celebrated not only Curin's remarkable sporting achievements, but also his considerable impact on society and his ability to inspire people around the world.

Born in Lunéville on April 20, 2000, Théo Curin's life was turned upside down at the age of six by a devastating case of meningitis, leading to the amputation of all four limbs. Far from letting this tragedy bring him down, Théo showed exceptional resilience. At the age of 13, his integration into the Pôle France Handisport swimming center in Vichy marked the start of a dazzling sporting career, making him a rising star in the world of handisport swimming.

His exploits at the Paralympic Games and World Championships bear witness to his determination and undeniable talent. Théo Curin distinguished himself by becoming the youngest competitor in the French delegation at the Rio Paralympic Games at just 16 years of age, then by accumulating the titles of World Vice-Champion and a bronze medal at the World Championships in London in 2019.

Beyond the pools, Théo has set himself challenges that have fascinated the public, such as crossing Lake Titicaca and taking part in the Half Ironman, demonstrating that limits only exist to be surpassed. His participation in the aquatic marathon between Santa Fe and Coronda in Argentina made him the first disabled athlete to take part in this competition, renowned for its difficulty.

Théo Curin has also distinguished himself in the media, fashion and entertainment, becoming an actor, model for Biotherm, columnist and TV host. Through these many roles, he helps to change perceptions of disability and encourage open dialogue on diversity and inclusion.

The unveiling of his statue at the Musée Grévin underlines the recognition of his contributions and influence far beyond his sporting achievements. Joining the ranks of sporting and cultural icons, Théo's presence at the museum celebrates his exceptional trajectory and sends a powerful message about overcoming hardship and realizing one's dreams, whatever the circumstances.

Through this inclusion, the Musée Grévin continues to demonstrate its commitment to celebrating personalities who have marked their era. Théo Curin's entry into the wax pantheon is a vibrant tribute to his perseverance, strength of character and inspirational influence, reminding visitors of all ages that limits are made to be pushed.
