After the great success of the first four editions and more than 500 000 visitors, the ZooSafari of Thoiry welcomes for the fifth winter "Thoiry Lumières Sauvages". From October 30, 2022 to March 6, 2023, the Thoiry ZooSafari will plunge its visitors into a luminous and magical setting. More than 2,000 characters, plants and animals -  1.5 KM of fairytale journey, an extraordinary and fairytale journey offered at no extra cost when visiting the ZooSafari.

The course of the 5th edition: the nature of a thousand colors welcomes a 20 meters moray eel! Highly colorful, this edition offers a new course that will cross dreamlike, underwater and magical worlds. Colorful insects and giant frogs, exotic plants and flowers, a marine zone with a 20-meter moray eel and a 12-meter shark. Realistic animals, dreamy and phantasmagorical ones, colors and dreamy settings plunge the visitors into a unique and timeless place. This year, new technologies, such as holograms, will enrich the experience.

After a beautiful summer 2022, the ZooSafari of Thoiry is getting ready to launch its winter season. For 5 years now, thanks to the Thoiry Lumières Sauvages event, the Park has opened its doors all year round. This year again, all the teams of Thoiry have mobilized to offer visitors this now unmissable event. Coupled with a visit to the zoo and the safari at no extra cost, Thoiry Lumières Sauvages, which has been a great success since its first edition, will once again unveil a magical winter!

In addition to the lanterns restored by teams of artists of the park, 5 containers arrived in late August with nearly 300 new lanterns on board. The teams now have less than two months to finish assembling and installing the structures in the gardens. In order to meet the deadline, the park has specially recruited a team of 10 people for this colossal project: handlers, artists and electricians are on deck. This year, the Lumières are exported to all the parks of the Thoiry group: the Zoo of Santo Inacio in Portugal hosts its first edition and the Safari of Peaugres in Ardèche organizes its second edition.

The Thoiry ZooSafari is committed to a virtuous process of controlling its environmental impact and reducing its energy consumption. In concrete terms, this means optimizing the lighting time of the Lumières Sauvages as closely as possible without detracting from the experience of the visit. Thus, a 30% saving in electricity consumption has been achieved, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 2 houses of 100m2 occupied by 4 people for 1 year. Also noteworthy is the use of LED bulbs which consume 80% less electricity than conventional bulbs and up to 10 times less than low-energy bulbs. Among the many actions carried out throughout the year in all the Thoiry Group's parks are the installation of timers in the common areas, a bioenergy methanization unit, photovoltaic shading on the parking lots and even locavore supplies which reduce the carbon footprint linked to transport. All these efforts translate into tangible energy savings through concrete daily measures.
