By Mulder, Paris, Paris-Expo, Porte de Versailles, 01 november 2022

After 3 years of waiting, the time has come to meet again the big players of the industry who promise a more festive experience than ever. The PGW Restart offers a varied program of games and licenses to discover, test and share the passion of video games. Major publishers will be present at Paris Games Week 2022, including: Bandai Namco Entertainment, Capcom, Nintendo, PLAION and its partners SEGA and Koei Tecmo, PlayStation, Square Enix, Ubisoft and Xbox.

Retrogaming, also known as classic gaming and old school gaming, is the playing and collecting of obsolete personal computers, consoles and video games. Usually, retrogaming is based on systems that are outdated or discontinued, although ported retrogaming allows games to be played on modern hardware via ports or compilations. It is usually about nostalgia, preservation or authenticity. A new game may have a retro style, such as an RPG with turn-based combat and pixel art in an isometric camera perspective. Retrogaming has been around since the early years of the video game industry and has been popularized by the Internet and emulation technology. The main reasons why gamers are attracted to retrogaming games are nostalgia for different eras, the idea that classic games are more innovative and original, and the simplicity of the games. Retrogaming and retro-computing have been described as preservation activities and aspects of remix culture.

As a meeting place for all communities and generations, PGW will offer many animations that reflect the plurality of the ecosystem. Young and old will be able to meet cosplayers on the Imagin'Con association's booth, which will offer many animations and activities, and to travel with the family through the 50 years of video games on the MO5 association's retrogaming space. You can also visit the PGW Shop, which will offer a range of Paris Games Week collectors' products, and the FNAC store area to discover new products, animations and demonstrations. PGW, which takes place during the All Saints' Day vacations, is naturally a meeting place for all families. The PGW Junior area will offer activities and games to test for budding gamers and parents alike!
