Premiere - Ambulance : the Paris European Premiere

Ambulance is an upcoming American action thriller film directed and produced by Michael Bay. A co-production between New Republic Pictures, Endeavor Content, Project X Entertainment, and Bay Films, it is based on the 2005 Danish film of the same name by Laurits Munch-Petersen and Lars Andreas Pedersen. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Eiza González and follows two adoptive siblings turned bank robbers who steal an ambulance occupied by a paramedic and a police officer in critical condition.

The project was first announced in August 2015 with Phillip Noyce attached to direct. In 2017, he was replaced by Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales, both of whom were eventually replaced by Michael Bay in 2020.

Ambulance began filming in Los Angeles on January 11, 2021. That day, González was spotted talking to a paramedic and following safety protocols caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as wearing masks on set. According to Abdul-Mateen, Gyllenhaal would often take the camera from Bay and shoot their scenes himself, making the "entire set his playground". On February 3, González was seen having a discussion in Downtown Los Angeles with Bay on set. Near the end of the month, Bay shared an explosive stunt involving an ambulance on Instagram, in which he was seen on a camera dolly; the stunt was criticized by /Film for endangering several crew members. A helicopter chase sequence was shot in March. After filming for three months, Stambouliah confirmed that principal photography had concluded on March 18, 2021. During post-production, the musical score was composed by Lorne Balfe.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 8, 2022, by Universal Pictures.

Synopsis :
Will Sharp, a decorated veteran, calls on the only person he can't trust, his adopted brother Danny, to find the money to cover his wife's medical bills. Danny, a charismatic long-time criminal, instead of giving him money, offers him a job: the biggest bank robbery in the history of Los Angeles: 32 million dollars. Will, ready to do anything to save his wife, accepts. But when their deal takes a spectacularly disastrous turn, the two brothers have no choice but to hijack an ambulance with a mortally wounded old cop and paramedic Cam Thompson on board. During the hellish chase that follows, Will and Danny must evade over-motivated law enforcement officers stationed all over the city, try to keep their hostages alive and avoid killing each other while executing the most spectacular escape the city of Los Angeles has ever seen.
