Soundtrack - Marco Beltrami brings his innovative thriller score to The Snowman

Academy Award nominated composer Marco Beltrami scores Universal Pictures’ The Snowman. The film, directed by Tomas Alfredson (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy), is adapted from Jo Nesbø’s global bestselling detective series. Nesbø’s detective Harry Hole, played by Michael Fassbender (X-Men First Class, Alien Covenant), is on the hunt for a serial killer that targets women during the first snow of the year in Oslo.

Academy Award nominated composer Marco Beltrami scores The Snowman from director Tomas Alfredson (Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy). The Nordic noir film stars twice Oscar nominated actor Michael Fassbender as Oslo detective Harry Hole, Rebecca Ferguson (Mission Impossible Rogue Nation) plays a brilliant recruit and Oscar winning actor J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Justice League) plays a mysterious character with ties to the case and the Snowman killer who is tasked with tracking down a grizzly serial killer who crafts snowmen with disembodied human heads and other appendages. Beltrami’s haunting score captures the intensity of the film through unrelenting suspense and anticipation, while using strings to accentuate the arctic environment. The film delves into dark subject matter of a killer fascinated with women who strikes on the first snow of the year. Adapted from the global bestselling novel by Jo Nesbø, Alfredson chose Beltrami for his genre innovating scores. The Snowman arrives in theaters on October 20, 2017. digital soundtrack is released same day through Backlot Music.

Beltrami built his reputation as a trendsetter with his critical-acclaimed, non-traditional horror scores for the Scream franchise and Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. His musical palette has expanded to virtually all film genres. Beltrami’s talents have garnered critical-acclaim and accolades, resulting in two Oscar nominations for Best Original Score (3:10 to Yuma and The Hurt Locker). 3:10 to Yuma marked Beltrami’s first collaboration with director James Mangold. They have since partnered on several projects including The Wolverine and Logan.

Marco Beltrami’s other musical accolades include a Critics’ Choice Award nomination and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series for The Practice. Internationally, his Soul Surfer score was awarded the “Golden Satellite” for Best Score from The International Press Academy and, he was nominated “2014 Film Composer of the Year” at the prestigious World Soundtrack Awards in Gent, Belgium for his range of projects including Carrie, A Good Day to Die Hard, The Homesman, Snowpiercer, Warm Bodies, The Wolverine and World War Z. Beltrami’s unique composing method was highlighted in the documentary, Score.

Synopsis
When Harry Hole, an elite crime squad’s lead detective (Fassbender), investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, he fears an elusive serial killer nicknamed "The Snowman" may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit (Ferguson), the detective must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.
