Discover now the first images of the film Death on the Nile. Embarkation on October 23st at the cinema for an eventful cruise that marks the new cinematic adaptation of Agatha Christie's best-seller. The previous film was directed in 1978 by John Guillermin and starred Peter Ustinov as Poirot. The novel Death on the Nile was published on November 1, 1937 in the United Kingdom, and eight years later, in 1945, in France. As in the excellent adaptation of Le Crime de l'Orient-Express (2017), Kenneth Branagh plays the role of Hercule Poirot.

In 2015, Christie's great-grandson, James Prichard, president of Agatha Christie Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm for the sequel, citing the positive collaboration with Branagh and the production team. In May 2017, Branagh expressed interest in further sequels if the first film is a success. On November 20, 2017, it was announced that 20th Century Studios was developing Death on the Nile as a sequel to their version of The Crime of the Orient Express with Michael Green taking over the script and Kenneth Branagh returning to the screen as Hercule Poirot, and behind the scenes as director. In September 2018, Gal Gadot joined the cast. In addition, Paco Delgado was hired to design the costumes. In October 2018, Armie Hammer joined the cast and Tom Bateman was confirmed to take over the role of Goat for the film. In April 2019, Letitia Wright joined the cast. Russell Brand joined the cast in August 2019. Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo and Jennifer Saunders were added in September.

Main photography began on September 30, 2019 at Longcross Studios in Surrey, England, and then moved to Egypt for outdoor shoots. Shooting was completed on December 18, 2019.

He is joined by a cast of suspects including four-time Oscar nominee Tom Bateman, Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders and Letitia Wright.

Death on the Nile is written by Michael Green, based on the mystery novel by Agatha Christie, and is produced by Kenneth Branagh, p.g.a, Judy Hofflund, p.g.a, Ridley Scott, Mark Gordon, Simon Kinberg and Kevin J. Walsh, with Matthew Jenkins, James Prichard and Matthew Pricharden as executive producers.

Death on the Nile is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on October 23, 2020 and will be distributed by 20th Century Studios. It was previously scheduled for release on December 20, 2019 before being rescheduled for October 9, 2020. It was then pushed back two weeks to its current release date. It will be released in France on October 21.

Synopsis:
During a luxurious cruise on the Nile, Hercule Poirot's vacation in Egypt turns into a murder hunt when an idyllic honeymoon is brutally interrupted by a series of violent deaths. Against a backdrop of grandiose landscapes but in a disturbing atmosphere full of danger, this dark love affair with murderous consequences will destabilize everyone's certainties, leading to a series of twists and turns until the incredible ending!
