Convention - SDCC 2017 - First Comic-Con Exclusive and offsite news

By Mulder, San Diego, 19 april 2017

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas...oh wait, no, it’s beginning to look a lot like SDCC. With under 100 days to go until San Diego Comic-Con International takes over downtown San Diego, news has begun to filter out in regards to offsite events, and exclusives.

Let's start with the exclusives shall we.

Last week at Star Wars Celebration Orlando, a few SDCC exclusives were announced. Among them were an an all white Movie Realization Prototype Armor Boba Fett (picture courtesy of Instagram user Darth Shank from Bluefin / Bandai Tamashii Nations )

Next up we have a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot) and A New Hope Darth Vader Classic Busts from Gentle Giant Ltd. (Pictures courtesy of RebelScum, http://www.rebelscum.com/2017-Celebration-Orlando/Celebration-Orlando-2017-Gentle-Giant-Ltd-Booth). Both figures are 1:6 scale and based on concept art by Brian Rood.

Next up we have an exclusive from our friends at Funko, while not much is known about what it is, it was revealed that along with 6 regular Mr. Robot Funko Pop! Figures, there would be a 7th one which will be an SDCC exclusive. We don’t know who/what it will be, but we know we want it!

Now let us talk about offsite events shall we?

First up we have Hop-Con, returning for it’s 5th time to Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station (about a 10 minute drive from the San Diego Convention Center). Tickets go on sale for this event on Apr 21, 2017 at 9:00 AM PDT. Earlier this week they posted the full menu, along with the ticket prices, and what to expect at the event, all of which you can find here

Next up, the SyFy channel announced Syfy Presents Live from Comic-Con will be coming back for a second straight year. They will be broadcasting from San Diego (and showing it later as well) and the broadcast will air from Thursday July 20th-Saturday July 22nd.

Finally for this round of offsite events, the 4th Annual Her Universe Fashion Show was also announced recently. Her Universe and Hot Topic are once again returning, and showing off some of their lines (including the recently announced DC line including Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman lines, we’d guess). The event will take place Thursday, July 20 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel, but the time for it to begin hasn’t been announced yet.

That’s all for this round of SDCC news! Hope to see you all in San Diego this year!
