Music - A Conversation with 2020 Oscar Nominated Songwriters

The Songwriters Hall of Fame will honor this year’s Oscar nominees for Best Original Song at its fourth-annual Q&A/panel event, “A Conversation with 2020 Oscar®-Nominated Songwriters,” hold today , January 28, 2020 at LA Film School. Immediately following a VIP reception for the nominees, the event had hold in the school auditorium with legendary songwriter and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Paul Williams serving as host.

(Williams' songs and scores have received six Oscars, nine Grammys, six Golden Globe awards, and two Emmy nominations. Williams won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1977 for “Evergreen” from the film A Star Is Born). Variety’s Jon Burlingame will moderate the Q&A. Mary Jo Mennella, Songwriters Hall of Fame West Coast Committee Chair & Board Member, will make introductory remarks. Sponsored by Variety, this event is one of the many Songwriters Hall of Fame programs that celebrate and honor the contributions and legacies of songwriters in all genres, while fostering the next generation of songwriters through educational forums, scholarships, and digital initiatives.

Diane Warren (Songwriter of “I’m Standing With You” from the film Breakthrough), Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Songwriters of "Into the Unknown” from Frozen 2), Bernie Taupin (Songwriter (co-writer with Sir Elton John) of "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again” from the Elton John biopic Rocketman), Cynthia Erivo and Joshua Campbell (Songwriters of "Stand Up" from Harriet) were present to answer to the audience questions during a great Q&A.
