In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the #metoo movement, women get together to make their voice heard in the entertainment industry. Last Thursday, the Fourth Annual Women In Entertainment (WIE) Summit took place at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles. The organization, which was founded by Gretchen McCourt and Renee Rossi in 2015, helps empower and bring together women from all areas of the entertainment industry. The Annual Summit is the occasion for women to discuss major issues such as gender discrimination, pay gap, or sexual assault but also share experiences and advices through one-to-one conversations and panels.

This year’s agenda was incredibly inspiring. From writer and producer Marta Kauffman, creator of Friends and Grace & Frankie to Lauren Graham, Lorelei Gilmore of the television series Gilmore Girls, we had the privilege to listen to many different voices and career paths made of failures and successes, disappointments and accomplishments.

To conclude the event, actress and producer Maggie Gyllenhaal discussed her character and her role as a producer on The Deuce, The Kindergarten Teacher released yesterday on Netflix (October 12) and how to balance her career and her personal life as a woman in the entertainment industry.
