Astro Bot was the first game from PlayStation’s line of VR games at E3 I played. And it defiantly didn’t disappoint. This game has the attachable VR goggles and remote in hand. The game can be played on a tv without the goggles. But the VR is half the appeal. Astro Bot was development by Sony Japan Studio, the same team that created The Playroom VR. When I walked in I played a short 15 minute demo of a section of the game. It had two beginner entry levels. With one character, the Astro Bot. One level you jumped threw random obstacles. Using your turbo boosters to get around. The other you had to battle a King Kong looking character to advance on.

The whole point of the game is to reduce your crew. One thing this game does is change up the pace. They did this by perspective play. Were you becomes first player and it also zooms out at time to play in 3rd person. The developers made Astro Bot to be interactive friendly with waving and facial features. Another neat part of the game was the interactive parts with the remote. Using the remote you can use it to shoot out ninja stars at bad guys, shoot out hook and chains, shoot out blocks to help you build platforms to stand on. You an even use it to head butt enemies at certain parts of the game. The developers also threw in another loop to this game. They made real life random interactions. Which means that at random times. A enemy can spit at you or even head butt you back.

This game is a visual wonder. It reminds me of games I grew with like Crash Bandicoot, Super Mario and Mega Man. With bright colors, magical music and great graphics. This game has great environments. From green gardens filled with flowers, to levels in the sky with clouds and even levels were you can fly around and get coins like old school Sonic. The remote is very impressive as well. Being fully interactive in the game at certain points. It becomes a important part of the game at certain times. As you have to use it as a key or even as a gun to shoot to kill a enemy. Astro Bot will be a fan favorite. Loved by kids and adult.
